Do you test for PCBs and Dioxins?Updated 2 months ago
We do not test for pesticides at this time, but it's absolutely something we will do as soon as we can. You can find exactly what we test for published on our website here.
That said, we share your concerns around pesticides, and those concerns are a big part of our mission at Seatopia. We started with mercury and microplastics testing because those are the predominant issues in seafood. But our current testing protocol is just the beginning.
Our team is working with our third-party lab partners to expand the scope of our testing. That includes considering what it would take to add residue testing for inorganic and harmful chemical treatments from conventional agriculture, which, as you know, can include tens of thousands of chemicals across the spectrum of herbicides, algicides, fungicides, and a universe of changing and evolving formulas.
There's a long way to go for the food system as a whole but we're optimistic that consumers and companies demanding third-party testing is a great way to move the needle, one vote with our fork at a time.
We appreciate your support for a better food system. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to continue the conversation to [email protected]
